In this role, you’ll:

 

  • Provide logistical support by operating road and materials handling equipment, delivering, loading/unloading, distributing, and storing materials essential to the maintenance of the Electric and Diesel rail passenger fleets,
  • Provide support for depot maintenance with on time delivery of Rotables and Consumables,
  • Arrange distribution of safety equipment and uniforms to correct locations,
  • Support general stores activities and minor projects as directed by the Services Support Coordinator, such as assisting with stores and stocktaking activities,
  • Ensure issues and incidents are reported in a timely manner following defect and incident reporting frameworks,
  • Daily Safety Inspection of equipment including truck, forklift, slings, chains and associated parts,
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities,
  • Ensure the interior and exterior of truck(s) are kept in a clean and presentable condition.

 

This position will be based out of the Auburn Heavy Maintenance Centre and is a (Fixed Term Limited Duration Full Time role up to 1 September 2027) - forming part of a dedicated logistics team and will transport heavy rolling stock components across Sydney Trains Maintenance Centres’.

About you:


We are looking for an experienced Truck Driver who has the capability to work under limited supervision and has experience in maintaining a safe and injury free workplace for all employees while operating in a high speed, high traffic volume environment. 


You will also have:

 

  • Class HR motor vehicle licence (rigid vehicle 4.5 to 8 tonnes), 
  • Current Forklift Licence,
  • Work Cover Authority to operate a 6-tonne forklift and 3 tonne cranes,
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate and communicate within time critical, teamwork focussed situations to meet schedule deadlines where priorities can conflict,
  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Sydney Trains probity and ethical standards,
  • Understanding of and compliance with HVNL, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and load restraint requirements.
