Senior Manager, Projects (HR Portfolio) (Temporary role upto 6 months)

In this role, you'll:
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of large, complex HR technology projects, including SAP, SuccessFactors, and S/4HANA implementations, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks.
• Oversee project assessments, planning, and delivery operations across a portfolio of initiatives, driving effective outcomes across system enhancements, integrations, and business transformation initiatives.
• Manage cross-functional teams and vendor relationships to ensure successful delivery of project phases within scope, schedule, and budget, applying best practice project management and agile methodologies where appropriate.
• Drive the development of business cases, solution designs, and implementation roadmaps that meet strategic workforce and operational objectives.
• Ensure project deliverables align with organisational HR strategies, compliance standards, and technology architecture, maintaining integration across multiple systems and business units.
• Lead the preparation and validation of project costings, procurement plans, and contract documentation to support effective vendor selection and risk management.
• Monitor and manage financial performance across the project portfolio, ensuring accurate forecasting, budget tracking, and reporting to senior leadership.
• Provide expert guidance and hands-on oversight of project governance activities, including stakeholder engagement, change management planning, and risk/issue resolution.
• Review and endorse key project artefacts, such as project management plans, business requirements, solution architecture, functional specifications, and test strategies, ensuring quality and traceability.
• Apply continuous improvement principles to project delivery processes, leveraging lessons learned and performance data to enhance future outcomes and delivery efficiency.
• Ensure the delivery of HR technology solutions that support user-centric design, operational efficiency, and seamless integration with existing enterprise systems.
• Build and lead a high-performing project team, fostering collaboration, capability development, and a culture of accountability and delivery excellence.
• Manage pipeline of works, ensure alignment with Business and IT roadmaps, assist with prioritisation and ensure value for Transport and people of NSW.
• Resource management of IT resources across projects to ensure optimum utilisation and full recovery of available resources.

About you
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing and delivering projects involving SAP, SuccessFactors, and S/4HANA platforms, including both functional and technical implementations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in portfolio or program management, with a proven track record in overseeing large-scale HR or IT transformation initiatives.
• Extensive experience leading and delivering HR systems projects, particularly SAP, SuccessFactors, and S/4HANA, in high-demand, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Certifications in PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) are highly desirable.
• Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated success at a senior project management level within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong project prioritisation, planning, and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in complex and constrained environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in building and leading multidisciplinary project teams, fostering high performance, collaboration, and delivery excellence during transformational change.
• Proven ability to manage project lifecycles end-to-end, including business case development, procurement, contract management, budgeting, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Advanced understanding of project governance frameworks, quality assurance practices, and compliance requirements, with the ability to navigate public sector or regulated environments.
• Superior interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing at senior executive and cross-functional levels.
• Strong knowledge of transport, infrastructure, or government delivery environments is desirable, especially in integrating IT project objectives with broader infrastructure outcomes.
