About the team


The Customer Strategy and Technology Division (CST) within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation, and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.


The Technology and Innovation Branch of CST is responsible for leading the technology strategy for TfNSW and is the custodian of the Future Transport Technology roadmap. The Branch engages across government and other Transport divisions to ensure the Transport Innovation portfolio is aligned across products, solutions and architecture and that business outcomes are achieved by embedding technical product capability into the product groups.



The opportunity


Right now, big things are happening in the Technology and Innovation space at Transport for NSW, and we have a fixed term opportunity for a passionate and proactive Director Transition & Implementation to lead best practice change management and transition and implementation strategies to ensure smooth transition of Technology and Innovation projects to operations.


Reporting to the Executive Director Strategy and Engagement this role will be instrumental in the agile transformation, design, development and implementation of change management strategies and methodologies, providing change management oversight to ensure appropriate controls and governance are in place. This exciting role will be key in influencing how Transport for NSW products and services are transitioned to operations, transforming the way we work through stronger collaboration, transparency, and efficiency.


In this role you will:


  • Influence how Transport for NSW products and services are transitioned to operations
  • Influence the agile transformation across Technology & Innovation, working with an agile partner and internal team to bring change to the way we work
  • Operate in a constantly evolving and complex environment, delivering best practice, agile, transition and implementation activities to ensure minimal impact on existing business operations.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve agile ways of working and create an environment where people can innovate and thrive.


This is a fixed term full-time opportunity until 30 June 2024.


The role is based in our new, modern office in Macquarie Park; however we offer flexibility with a combination of office and remote working.

About You


You are a tertiary qualified and experienced senior executive with a strong background that demonstrates a track record of managing and leading the transition to operations of large scale and complex technology projects through significant periods of organisational change.  


You possess extensive knowledge and experience in establishing change management methodologies in current and emerging best practices in complex and evolving organisations to support the effective delivery of business outcomes.


You are a passionate leader that is looking for an opportunity to champion strategic focus in driving the customer experience and balancing diverse and conflicting commercial and operational priorities across multiple projects.


You have extensive experience in managing and delivering large scale programs coupled with significant vendor and stakeholder management expertise will be evident throughout your career.


You are highly collaborative and inclusive and bring a proven track record in effectively leading and inspiring diverse teams, driving performance and uplifting capability and leading transformational change across operational and commercial business units or divisions.


You are a thought leader, agile and transformative change practitioner with a big-picture perspective, you can influence and collaborate to drive change, paving the path towards implementation of our large, scaled programs.
