 The opportunity 


Right now, we have an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer Integration (Designing and delivering Integration services) to join our Platform and Service Management Team. The role sits within the Integration space integrating multiple applications across the Transport cluster. You will be involved in real time integration using iPaaS, ESB, API Gateway tooling to deliver SOAP/ REST or JMS services, build APIs for exposing backend application functions to 3rd party or SaaS applications or creating and exposing microservices. Successful individuals will be responsible for building and uplifting current maturity and capability in the team together with driving reliability and resilience engineering initiatives throughout the development teams.


Your key accountabilities are:


  • Deliver technical expertise, to a diverse range of stakeholders, to support the operation of Transport applications, including providing technical support in the Integration space.
  • Influence and deliver quality software for software projects by undertaking all aspects of the software development life cycle to meet development stream objectives.
  • Analyse and translate both functional and non-functional user requirements to convert and create quality software design and system specifications.
  • Contribute and develop quality software by creating software feature design specifications to deliver quality software solutions.
  • Conduct verification, debugging and testing in a local environment to deliver stable and functional software that performs to documented requirements.
  • Maintain accurate system bug tracking data and all related systems documents to monitor their compliance to agreed quality standards.
  • Undertake appropriate testing, using suitable tools for diagnosing and rectifying issues, and support application software releases and development updates to guarantee performance, functionality and reliability objectives are met.


Essential Skills


  • Demonstrated experience of using industry leading tools for integration functions like Enterprise Service Bus (such as TIBCO, MuleSoft, Boomi), Event streaming (Such as Kafka), API Gateway (such as Kong, Layer 7, APIM), Batch integration.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of developing and running containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Demonstrated experience in development of SOAP / REST services and Microservices.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing Integration solutions in a large, hybrid environment servicing a broad spectrum of diverse applications
  • Experience of working in Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes
  • Experience of using supporting tools related to logging, monitoring, alerting, and testing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, written and oral communication skills with proven success to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

About you 


  • Delivering against a program of work within a defined timelines while accommodating changes in priorities and scope.
  • A background in the Integration space working on delivering new solutions and new tools as well as development and support.
  • Addressing and resolving frequently occurring problems and complex technical issues and developing innovative solutions that may require the application of new problem-solving techniques and approaches.
  • Previous experience in Cloud technologies – AWS or Azure or both.
  • A solid background in technical concepts.
  • A knowledge of Containerisation would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and Microservices would be an advantage.



Salary and Benefits 


The salary for this position is Grade 9 ($132583 - $155309) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
