The Division

 

Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast paced multi-disciplinary project environment.  

 

The opportunity 

 

Right now, we have an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Signalling and Control Systems team (Engineering Discipline) as part of Major Works (MW) in the Engineering and Maintenance Branch within Sydney Trains. The role is responsible for the upfront project management of a portfolio of major periodic rail maintenance works and supporting the Program Planning Manager to achieve program deliverables for the Sydney Trains Annual Works Program.

 

What you will be involved in:

 

  • Managing upfront project management activities that include project planning and development of systems and signals scope of works, schedules, detailed cost estimates, resource plans and risk registers
  • Consulting and engaging with Discipline peers as well as Design and Asset Management business partners on activities critical to the above responsibility
  • Consulting, engaging and coordinating the transition of project management plans to delivery partners to within MW for subsequent projects delivery
  • Contribute to the development of coordinated project plans for major deliverables across the network.

About you

 

With high levels of enthusiasm and initiative, you will work well in a team environment with the ability to self-manage to drive actions and develop innovations to enable delivery success in a fast-paced environment and towards financially sustainable future.

 

You will have project management experience working across transport Infrastructure projects in a large and complex organisation, you have a strong background in the planning and delivery of complex rail projects, preferably with a signal control systems background and have worked in brownfield, multi stakeholder and dynamic construction environments. You will be a proactive and effective communicator and have a proven ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.  

 

To succeed in this role, you’ll also need Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or Engineering (in a relevant discipline) or demonstrated equivalent experience in Project Management and delivering complex projects of a multi-disciplined nature (i.e., track, civil, signalling/control systems or electrical) preferably in the construction or rail industry.

 

Salary and Benefits

 

The salary for this position is a RC 7 (Level A $143,555 – Level E $157,945) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
