About the team

Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast paced multi-disciplinary project environment.


The opportunity 

The System Engineer - Data Networks is to perform allocated system engineering works associated with the ongoing development of Sydney Trains' Operation-critical Data Networks including implementation of allocated projects, both internal and external. The role is required to undertake technical options, technical requirements definition, logical decompositions, system interface management, and Type Approval activities that are compliant with Sydney Trains' Engineering and Configuration Management processes.

The role is part of a smaller team that will focus on design and in lab testing. The work will follow a systems engineering approach.

Please note this is NOT an IT – Information Technology role. This is a Design Engineering role.
