In this role, you'll:
• Ensure compliance of all plant and equipment within the maintenance centre with OH&S standards, industry regulations, and legislative requirements through a structured maintenance program.
• Develop scopes of work and collaborate with the Contracts Manager to establish and manage service agreements and contracts for the maintenance centre and associated depots.
• Oversee facility service agreements, ensuring high-quality maintenance and upgrades while maintaining safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Implement proactive maintenance processes for facilities, equipment, and plant systems to mitigate hazards and enhance reliability.
• Lead the delivery of infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance, ensuring operational continuity and asset longevity.
• Plan and execute asset renewal and upgrade projects within budget and time constraints to maintain optimal performance.
• Support leadership in fostering a collaborative and adaptive work environment that encourages continuous improvement.
• Assess workloads, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively in a high-demand environment with strict deadlines.
• Drive maintenance quality improvements while optimizing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Assist in the execution of capital projects to ensure timely delivery within budget.
• Provide strategic support to Maintenance Shift Managers and Team Leaders to ensure seamless operations and minimal service disruptions.
• Enhance operational and financial performance by implementing innovative solutions that improve commercial outcomes and service excellence.

About you
• Tertiary qualifications or experienced tradesperson in mechanical or electrical engineering with experience in a maintenance management environment.
• Proven expertise in contract administration, project management, and negotiation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industrial standards, codes, and OH&S legislation related to plant and equipment in a heavy engineering environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience in implementing quality, OH&S, environmental, and safety management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate facility maintenance staff.
• The role is based out of Newcastle, requiring on-site presence and travel across different locations as needed.
• Experience overseeing contractors across multiple sites, with travel required as part of the role.
• Ability to conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain accurate records.
• Strong project management skills or willingness to undertake relevant training.
• Have a valid C-class driver’s license to support travel requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software for reporting and documentation.
• Certifications in confined space work and working at heights, or willingness to obtain.
• Forklift license is desirable.
