About the team 

The Associate Software Developer- Database is responsible for supporting the development and enhancement of Information Applications for use by Sydney Trains customers and stakeholders. The role enables the delivery of data engineering solutions completed internally and externally through IT vendors, contractors, and staff to ensure that system and product improvements meet or exceed agreed upon time, cost and quality requirements.


The opportunity 

We, at Sydney Trains have a newly created permanent full time opportunity for you to come & join. The role is responsible for supporting the development, deployment and maintenance of applications across the Customer Information Channels unit. The main area is to develop and support a real time train application which keeps Sydney Moving! You will be joining the most trusted & large organisation where variety of work challenges makes it more interesting.  


The role will be based in Burwood, with a flexible work arrangement.


Key accountabilities of the role include (not limited to)

  • Support the development of database and middleware engineering solutions for the Customer Information
  • Channels Unit to deliver final testing and implementation that meets business requirements.
  • Contribute to the delivery of database and middleware solutions.
  • Monitor performance reports to identify how database and middleware are operating in accordance to service level agreements.

About you 

You are master of your game with hands on experience in developing real time applications. Very sound knowledge for Oracle & Cloud is a must have. You excel at managing competing priorities and embrace liaising with a range of people at different levels. The role demands exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.

Essential Requirements 


  • Experience in developing real time application
  • Solid Oracle database development (SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Working experience on Unix/Linux environments
  • Java/J2EE skills
  • Exposure to build tools such Jenkins/Maven/Gradle
  • Working experience on AWS Cloud environment


Salary and benefits


Associate Software Developer- Database, (RC5 Grade A$ 106,653 – RC 5 Grade E$123,022) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
