IT Program Delivery Lead (Temporary Opportunity up to 18 months)

In this role, you'll:
- Join the high performing IT Client Engagement & Delivery Team and play a lead role in delivering the Rail Timetabling Solution (RTS) Program considered a strategic Tier 1 priority for Sydney Trains and TfNSW. This program will implement a modern, state-of-the art rail timetabling software application and optimise related production processes to deliver significant improvements in rail timetable planning, production and publishing capabilities for Sydney Trains.
- Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams sourced from across TfNSW IT (e.g. architecture, integration, business analysis, cloud platform, cyber security, environment and release management, service delivery, data and reporting, testing) to successfully deliver the IT scope of work as part of this transformational program. The IT team will work closely and collaboratively with the Sydney Trains and software application vendor teams, to deliver integrated technology solutions that will optimise timetable planning processes and sustain and improve timetable planning capabilities.
- Ensure the IT work package is effectively governed and controlled within clearly defined scope, quality, time and budgetary constraints and provide expert advice to facilitate the delivery of strategic priorities, drive efficiency and ensure positive business and customer outcomes.
- Collaborate, build rapport and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including variety of technology teams across the organisation), fostering and sustaining trusted and productive working relationships.
- Work with respective Hiring Managers across TfNSW IT to provide the leadership and direction to a variable number of indirect delivery team reports in a matrix reporting line context, to achieve the Program’s objectives and facilitate ongoing professional development, team wellbeing and engagement.
Fixed term, full time opportunity to 30 September 2026 | Hybrid work, WFH mixed with 2-3 days/week attendance either at Burwood Home Office or flexibility to travel across various Transport for NSW and Sydney Trains locations across the Sydney Metropolitan area as required.

About you
- Demonstrated multi-year experience in a similar IT Program Management and Delivery setting, producing tangible benefits on large scale digital transformational programs and/or projects for business stakeholders. You’ll have proven experience specific to leading integrated application software and cloud-based infrastructure implementation delivery teams within a complex, politically, industrially, and commercially sensitive organisational context.
- Ability to build trust, influence and communicate effectively on strategic and operational matters with senior stakeholders, vendors and team members at all levels applying a commercial and customer centric mindset to delivery of this technology scope of work.
- Strong collaboration skills and a proven ability to bring diverse teams and individuals together to successfully deliver to common goals.
- Tertiary studies and/or certifications relevant to the discipline.
