About the Team


The Commercial & Supply Chain Division ensures the supply of materials and services at the right price, quantity, quality, location and time for the Maintenance Directorate to support the provision of a world-class railway. 


The division encompasses Supply Chain Performance and Planning, Contract Management, Manufacturing, Refurbishment and Logistics Services and Commercial Management for Sydney Trains. You will be employed within the Maintenance Contracts team of the division. This team manages in excess of 300 contracts with a total value of over $3 billion.


The opportunity 


Right now, we have an opportunity for a Lead Contracts Manager to join our high-performing Maintenance Contracts team.


Reporting to the Associate Director Maintenance Contracts, this role will be responsible for the ongoing management of the commercial arrangements with suppliers across our Maintenance and Operations Directorates.


This varied role offers the unique opportunity to be an influential leader in ensuring we deliver world-leading rail infrastructure projects and cost efficiencies for the people of NSW.


Key accountabilities will include:


  • Manage supplier performance in compliance with best practice and applicable policies and procedures
  • Understand, monitor and support stakeholder and customer requirements and proactively identify improvements to ensure ongoing high levels of service
  • Develop plans to ensure continuity of supply for essential goods and services
  • Support the procurement process leading to the development of new commercial arrangements
  • Consistently deliver efficiency and set a platform for increased commerciality in dealings with external parties to deliver best value for money for Sydney Trains.

About you 


You are a seasoned senior Contract Manager with demonstrated experience in managing significant contracts, preferably from Engineering/Construction/Infrastructure/Fleet industry.


You enjoy taking responsibility for ensuring contracts deliver to operational requirements and have prior experience in managing employees and third-party providers for large projects or programs.


An outcome focused Leader, you have a consultative and customer focused approach with strong negotiation, commercial, influencing and communication skills.


A degree in law, commerce or engineering, previous experience in managing Construction or Maintenance contracts will be highly regarded.
