The opportunity


Right now, we have an opportunity for a Principal Procurement Analyst (Category & Commercial) to join us in Procurement, Transformation and Commercial, as part of the Procurement Insights & Analytics team.


The purpose of this role is to deliver procurement intelligence, from a range of data sources, through business analysis, cost modelling, and performance analysis. The role will lead the design of end-to-end analytics within the Procurement Excellence function and will work proactively as part of a multi-skilled team of Analysts to enhance business performance and drive high quality procurement analytics and compliance outcomes for the organisation.



 The Principal Procurement Analyst (Category & Commercial) leads a team of 4 analysts to deliver high-quality procurement, category and commercial analysis to support the Transport for NSW Category, Contracts, Commercial and Sourcing teams across a range of markets and disciplines.


The role will cover the following functions:


  • Identify, develop, select and deploy data resources and contemporary analytical tools and methodologies which enable strategic reporting, analysis and predictive modelling to inform and support procurement/category management.
  • Provide strategic analyses and advice on complex markets, supply arrangements and market development initiatives to provide a sound basis for procurement decisions and directions.
  • Collaborate with procurement and business partners in the development of evidence-based procurement and category management strategies, policies and processes to meet their business needs and achieve quality and continuity of supply, procurement savings and improved business outcomes.
  • Manage the design and implementation of effective metrics and reports to continually monitor and assess the performance of individual procurement arrangements and the benefits realised for the total category/procurement function.
  • Develop pricing and cost-modelling to evaluate category and sourcing initiatives.
  • Utilise data visualisation and business intelligence tools and techniques to provide targeted reports and insightful analysis that can be easily interpreted by users.

About you


You are tertiary-qualified, or have relevant experience in, analytics/business/commerce/supply chain, and are looking for an opportunity to further develop your skills in procurement category management, analytics, data and insights. 


You will be able to operate autonomously and be fully accountable for the delivery of work measured by accuracy, integrity and quality of expert and specialist advice provided.



Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is Grade 9 ($135,898 - $152,204) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
