In this role, you'll:
Work in the Projects Operations, Heavy Plant and Work Trains Management Unit within the Major Works Branch of Engineering & Maintenance at Sydney Trains with a focus on diagnosing, repairing and maintaining low voltage electrical systems.
This role will see you working on specialised Track-Machines around the greater Sydney region and maintaining critical rail infrastructure for the safe and efficient operation of passenger trains & Freight.
You will carry out various plant maintenance activities on mobile and stationary plant equipment that will require flexibility to travel, live away from home and work some night shifts for a geographical area that will cover from Newcastle to Bathurst and down to Berry.

Please note that this position descriptions correctly covers the behavioural capabilities required for the role but technically it will require Auto Electrician skills and experience rather than Mechanical skills and experience.
About you
Your trade qualification(s) will include a Cert III in Automotive Electrical and you will also ideally have a Cert IV in Fluid Power Control.
You’re recognised as having experience with navigating Programmable Logic Controller (PLC’s) as a diagnostic tool, with the ability to read engineering electrical schematics.
In addition to this, you are comfortable working with technology – computers and tablets – and someone who is a team player that can work safely in a group and independently. You are also flexible to be shift-based including nightshift, weekends and public holidays when required.
This is a Wages AVP level 3.1 - 4.2 role which is a frontline role based out of our Heavy Plant and Resurfacing Depot in Auburn/Clyde. The role will cover a geographical area from Newcastle to Bathurst and down to Berry. It will involve some night shifts, living away from home and as a result will provide overtime and a living away from home allowance when required.
