About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About the team

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

Greater Sydney is focused on these three cities and delivering a joined-up transport network and services to ensure these cities become the places that their customers and communities really want.

The opportunity

Right now, we have a fixed term opportunity for a Director Major Events in our Customer Journey Planning team, leading a group responsible for the development of integrated multi-modal transport management plans and strategies for major events and festivals in Greater Sydney.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the systems, processes and people conducting planning for real-time management of major events and festivals in Greater Sydney and developing ‘day of operation plans’ in collaboration with Customer Journey Management teams and resources
  • Define the transport principles and desired outcomes for all major events and festivals in Greater Sydney in consultation with event proponents and NSW Police
  • Ensure systems for transport planning for major events and festivals are integrated with all other activities within Greater Sydney which has the potential to impact on customer journeys
  • Lead and influence key decisions related to transport outcomes within the NSW event industry, by developing strong relationships with event managers and key stakeholders in NSW Government including Department of Premier and Cabinet, Destination NSW, and NSW Police

  • Lead a process of continual improvement and expansion of the integrated ticketing system for customers travelling to major events
