In this role, you'll:
Work in a dynamic environment where you’ll focus on the receiving, marshalling, and dispatching of Electric and Diesel rolling stock to facilitate safe and efficient movement of trains.
You’ll liaise with the Precinct Manager, Fleet Maintenance, and work closely with other Fleet Operators at this multi-user site.
On a daily basis you’ll marshal trains within the centre for inspection, maintenance, repairs, and the removal of carriages. You’ll work to schedules and rosters to accept and despatch trains, communicate with signalling staff, and generally work to having all train movements completed in a safety-focused, practical, and efficient way.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Fleet Maintenance Division within Sydney Trains. It is a permanent, fulltime role based out of the Eveleigh Maintenance Centre.
About you
You will have previous experience in shunting, or simialr role and ideally you will have an in-depth understanding of rail operations, network rules and shunting and maintenance centre procedures, enabling you to direct train placement with safely and effectively with drivers, signalling staff, and Managers.
You're recognised as a clear communicator with strong planning and problem-solving abilities. This will help you to anticipate operational needs and address challenges as they arise. You bring a clear, professional approach when interacting with others and this will see you excel in communicating clearly over radio, enabling seamless coordination with train crews and signalling staff.
Your team-oriented, pro-active and able to work well under pressure in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. You uphold high ethical standards and promote a respectful working environment high standards of safety and integrity.
You also possess the flexibility & fatigue management skills necessary to work a 24/7 rotating roster is essential.
