In this role you’ll


Join the Group Finance branch, within the Finance, Technology & Commercial division, to lead the Accounting Policy Advisory & Compliance Team ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards and NSW Treasury mandates for Transport Portfolio agencies. 

 

Reporting to the Executive Director Financial Accounting & Control and supported by a high performing team of policy advisory and compliance professionals, you will lead the provision of technical accounting advice and ensures compliance to Accounting standards, government policy, financial policies and procedures and other financial governance instruments.

 

Responsibilities of this role include the following:

 

  • Lead and facilitate the development and implementation of new or revised standards and policies and ensure compliance by Agencies with Portfolio wide standards and policies.

 

  • Ensure that accounting principles are applied with integrity and that decisions are appropriately documented across a large and complex Portfolio.

 

  • Provide high level strategic advice to senior executives across the Portfolio including advice for complex transactions.

 

  • Ensure compliance across finance of all accounting policy and procedures and demonstrate control principles.

 

  • Monitor audit actions and control frameworks requirements to ensure risk is minimised.

 

  • Identifying opportunities to provide value added service including partnering diverse clients in their dealings with and resolution of accounting policy and /or compliance issues.

About You
 
You are an inspirational leader with a background in leading the group accounting policy, advisory and/or compliance function(s), within complex, large-scale organisations such as government environments. You have the demonstrated ability to provide continuous improvement for an existing accounting policy advisory function. With demonstrated success in implementing accounting and policy standards, you possess exceptional skills in governance, compliance, audit and risk management.

 

Professional qualifications, (CA, CPA or equivalent professional membership) is essential. Prior experience working in audit or accounting advisory will be well regarded.

 

Key to the success of this role will be the engagement of key stakeholders in the development of business requirements, frameworks, policies, systems and processes. With people at the heart, your ability to build collaborative relationships with executive level stakeholders ensures the effective delivery of divisional initiatives.
