About the team

 

The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion dollar program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. The Technical Services Branch provides specialised engineering services for the multi-modal delivery, operations and management of our Transport network, and is the centre of technical expertise driving innovation and best practice. 

 

 

The opportunity

 

Due to the unprecedented scale of investment in the Transport for NSW Future Transport strategy we have a permanent opportunity for a Senior Surveyor – Subsurface Stratum (Temporary Full Time until July 2024) to be part the Technical Service’s team.

 

The role develops and implements best practice procedures and guidelines and manages surveying resources using a combination of both internal staff and private industry partners, to minimise current and future TfNSW risk associated with surveying activities. The role will contribute to the Transport for NSW reputation as a technical leader in road infrastructure surveying.

 

The role is also responsible for surveying activities such as verification of data requests and Deposited Plan deliverables in relation to stratum acquisition affects and maintaining strict Project Deed timelines through efficient management of available resources for plan preparation, review and lodgement while in consultation with NSW Land Registry Services and Titling to ensure compliance to legislative requirements.

 

The role will also be required to support sub-surface property acquisition processes, and the management and auditing of plan lodgement to ensure efficient delivery of service. 

 

 

What you will be involved in

 

• Contribute to professional service delivery, through contract management, administration and auditing of professional service providers, and assisting the Manager in resource allocation by liaising with colleagues, stakeholders and available surveying resources.

• Contribute to the provision of surveying solutions, by ensuring that products and services meet the time, cost and quality requirements and comply with WHS and environmental legislation, regulatory and statutory survey requirements, and by liaising with clients, project teams, stakeholders, contractors and professional service providers.

• Contribute to sound decision-making for project development and progression by advising project managers on control, collection, interpretation, presentation and application of surveying and spatial information.

• Support the Manager in leading, developing, mentoring, motivating, and continuously improving a team of technical staff and cross-functional team members by aligning personal development opportunities to TfNSW business objectives.

• Manage the research, development, evaluation, review and implementation of current and emerging surveying technologies, to ensure the survey discipline remains at the forefront of technical excellence.

• Contribute to the development of and surveying the discipline’s capability to support innovation and improvement by regularly reviewing management systems, specifications, policies, procedures, work methods, and industry/staff development to incorporate emerging technologies.

 

 

About you

 

We are looking for a Senior Surveyor – Subsurface Stratum that can take TfNSW into the new era of engineering.

 

You will be a self-starter, an autonomous operator, who proactively takes the initiative to establish effective relationships and solve problems. You will possess strong communication skills and attention to detail, and be able to manage multiple cross-functional priorities with conflicting deadlines. Proficient multitasking, organisational, teamwork and planning skills are key.

 

Any experience in a property acquisitions and boundaries within and infrastructure environment is favourable.

 

 

Key Knowledge and Experience

 

• Proven experience in surveying and associated technologies, the provision of surveying technical advice, the application of relevant legislation related to surveying practices and procedures and with the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects

• Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and management of contract arrangements and support in a variable environment involving private sector partnerships and industry contestability.

• Proven experience in the coordinated development and application of operational systems, policies and procedures related to surveying

• Demonstrated experience in developing innovative solutions to complex technical problems and in developing process and system improvements, to support best practice and drive commercial change in the provision of TfNSW survey and overall engineering services

 

Essential requirements

• The qualification of Registered Land Surveyor under the Surveying and Spatial Information Act, 2017 is an essential capability for the role

• Possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license

Salary and Benefits

 

USS 10 ($ 126,310 - $ 138,035) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
