About the team


The Commercial Services team within the Infrastructure and Place division consist of over 300 people. This team is responsible for all commercial aspects, from concept to delivery and close out of some of the country's largest infrastructure projects. 


The opportunity 


Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Property Litigation / Claims Specialist. This role plays a critical part in the process of land acquisition for transport infrastructure projects ensuring an equitable outcome for Transport for NSW, the land owner and the people of NSW.


Reporting into the Director Property Claims and Strategy the primary purpose of the role is to develop and finalize case information, review research, prepare evidence, and develop settlement options in complex and/ or high-profile property related disputes. The role performs a critical role in minimising the amount spent in litigation by supporting solicitors working on behalf of the organisation by managing complex and/ or high-profile property and acquisition related disputes.
 

The role will include but is not limited to:


•    Working with internal and external legal representatives and other parties to negotiate successful acquisitions outcomes for the organisation. 
•    Managing competing priorities and tight deadlines set by external stakeholders such as court filing dates 
•    Ensuring sensitivity and high levels of confidentiality for high profile/ complex property matters and disputes 
•    Achieving of out-of-court and court settlements for property disputes that provide the best outcome for the organisation by ensuring correct and just terms compensation is paid via property acquisition offers, contracts         and settlements.
•    Providing regular updates to executives on case costs and case progress, ensuring key dates and deliverables for external service providers are met. 
•    Developing educational opportunities regarding the compulsory acquisitions process to educate project delivery teams. 
•    Lead ing the development, documentation, and implementation of process improvements to achieve savings with external legal spend.

About you


You are a tertiary qualified (law or related/relevant discipline) professional with demonstrated extensive experience in legal administration and/or property acquisitions or disputes. A high attention to detail you will be capable of providing accurate and timely reporting, as well as pro-active in managing issues which arise upwards in a timely manner.  Able to multi task and prioritise and meet tight deadlines you must also have a proven ability to manage highly sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality. This role requires security and criminal clearance prior to appointment.
