The opportunity

 

We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader, Payroll to join the Transport Shared Services team within Corporate Services, Newcastle. This is a great opportunity for an experienced senior payroll professional who wants to step up or continue to develop their leadership capabilities in a high volume, fast pace, complex matrix environment. 


You will foster a team culture of high end to end payroll services and service excellence, identify and implement opportunities for service improvement in all areas of operations including improvements in standard operating procedures (SOPs) building skills and capabilities in the team, and continuously improving processes, systems, and the knowledge base. Identify and unlock value-added services and foster a collaborative and service driven approach.

 

  • Manage and coordinate the team and resources to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Managing the scheduling for correct allocation of work.
  • Manage more complex enquiries and transactions, the provision of value-add services, and monitor the resolution of these to ensure that tickets are closed out.
  • Take accountability for team performance and achieve agreed customer satisfaction, efficiency, and effectiveness KPIs.
  • Manage the PDR process for the team and have regular performance and development discussions with staff to ensure individual and organisational goals are achieved.

 

This position is a 12-month fixed term contract with an end date of 30/06/2023. There will be a view for extension.

About You

 

  • You are energetic, pragmatic and relish a challenge
  • Resilient and can adapt easily to working in a fast moving, complex payroll environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams through organisational change while embedding a positive culture and new ways of working
  • A can-do attitude with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and with cross functional teams
  • Exceptional management and communication skills with the ability to proactively build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • High level of attention to detail, initiative, analytical and able to problem-solve complex issues in a fluid environment
  • Experience and knowledge of SAP Payroll is highly desirable


  

Salary and Benefits

 

The salary for this position is Grade 7 ($106,086) – ($118,816)  per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
