About the team:


The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion dollar program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. We are dedicated and passionate team that is proud of the work we do and the supportive and flexible team culture we have built.


The Technical Services Branch provides specialised engineering services for the multi-modal delivery, operations and management of our Transport network, and is the centre of technical expertise driving innovation and best practice.


The opportunity:


Due to the unprecedented scale of investment in the Transport for NSW Future Transport strategy we have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Surveyor Cadastral to be part the Technical Service’s team.


The role is responsible for management of risk through provision of property survey and cadastral information services to enable efficient and timely property acquisitions to deliver high profile transport infrastructure.


The role is based in the Orange and Parkes area and will service the wider region. There may be varying hours, site locations and away work. Staff will have access to TfNSW pool vehicle for work use. The role will provide excellent development opportunities within the wider group.


What you will be involved in:


  • Manage and undertake the delivery of property acquisition surveys, by engaging and training both internal and external resources, to ensure both best practice and compliance with relevant legislation and in order to minimise risk on TfNSW development and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage the audit and lodgement of property survey plans to ensure compliance with relevant legislation in order to minimise risk on TfNSW development and infrastructure projects and to minimise delay in the property acquisition and disposal programs.
  • Manage the technical and legislative risk on TfNSW projects related to the preservation of the state survey control and cadastral infrastructure as per the requirements of relevant legislation and TfNSW processes
  • Provide expert timely technical advice and services to the Survey Managers of TfNSW to drive effective decision making in relation to property acquisitions to deliver high profile transport infrastructure.
  • Liaise and negotiate with senior and executive leaders from other government agencies and private industry, most notably the Land and Registry Services, Department of Customer Service - Spatial Services, Surveyor General and Registrar General to gain their commitment and co-operation, to achieve TfNSW objectives.
  • Ensure property surveys and cadastral information services delivered by internal resources and external professional survey services providers comply with TfNSW policies and requirements, relevant standards, regulations and legislation.
  • Act as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging planning issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives.

About you:


You will be a self-starter, an autonomous operator, who proactively takes the initiative to establish effective relationships and solve problems. You will possess strong communication skills and attention to detail, and be able to manage multiple cross-functional priorities with conflicting deadlines. Proficient multitasking, organisational, teamwork and planning skills are key.


Key Knowledge and Experience:


  • Extensive experience in surveying and associated technologies, the provision of surveying technical advice, the application of relevant legislation related to surveying practices and procedures and the management of technical risk.


Essential Requirements:


  • Registration as a Land Surveyor under the Surveying and Spatial Information Act, 2002 is required
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive equivalent professional experience in providing surveying technical services across diverse infrastructure projects.

Salary and Benefits


USS Grade 10 ($128,887-$140,851) per annum plus overtime/penalties, superannuation and leave loading.
