About the team

 

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

The opportunity

 

We’re seeking the expertise of a Senior Manager Network Operations to join our Customer Journey Planning Team. You will be responsible for managing and leading the implementation of traffic signal optimisation, operational design review, operational policy, procedures and plans to optimise the NSW road network performance through the effective operation of SCATS, traffic signals and associated network management systems and will partner with colleagues across the Precincts to ensure a consistent and high level of service is provided.

 

What you’ll be involved in:

  • Leading, motivating, encouraging and inspiring the development of a strong, effective and efficient professional team

  • Reviewing, endorsing and approve traffic signal design plans on road networks prepared and submitted by Transport staff, private developers and Local Councils to ensure traffic management throughout the precinct are effectively undertaken to achieve improvement to the efficient and safe movement of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians throughout the road network on a day to day basis.

  • Driving the operational assessment of the road network and development of operational plans to optimise the network performance of SCATS across NSW

  • Provide expert technical advice in the review of proposed changes to the road network

  • Providing specialist traffic management advice to influence and facilitate the effective integration of new major road and public transport infrastructure and services into the operation of the road network

  • Preparing specialist reports and documentation including; house file notes, responses to parliamentary questions, coroner requests, briefing notes and reports for our executive leadership team.

About you

 

We’re looking for a well organised astute leader who is passionate about putting the customer at the heart. You will demonstrate experience leading large teams and the ability to make data driven decisions to resolve complex problems.  You will be personable, inclusive and flexible with the ability to forward plan and provide strategic direction and take others on the journey with you.

 

With the customer at the heart, continuous improvement should always be front of mind. You will demonstrate solid experience in promoting and championing new ways of working with clear purpose and benefit, and provide leadership in times of uncertainty and potential resistance to change.

 

Understanding customer and stakeholder needs and expectations is critical to ensure delivering improvements to overall network operations planning on the state road network in Sydney, delivers integrated customer focused traffic management infrastructure and system.

 

This role will suit an experienced people leader, with demonstrated ability to drive a high performance culture. You must be comfortable collaborating with a number of stakeholders and effectively managing their expectations. Experience in transport or traffic engineering role such as network planning or traffic management is preferred. Finally, the successful candidate will be required to travel across Greater Sydney and Regional NSW.
