In this role, you'll:


Ensure the project specifications and work plan requirements are followed and implemented. The role will complete and maintain records that demonstrate that processes are carried out and verified according to project documentation. The role may be required to carry out duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 as required.

The Works Assistant Grade 3 - PQR will also be responsible for:

• Guiding, supporting, and influencing field-based teams to perform roles and works to WHS, traffic, environmental and quality standards, including the accurate documenting of works checks and records.

• Verifying that work activities are completed to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans and contract requirements, and completing required records. This will involve safety, environmental and quality checks, audits, asset inspections, competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.

• Solving routine problems that arise, referring to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborating with field staff, supervisors, Engineers, and managers to resolve complex problems to minimise risks and achieve work goals.
• Guiding team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability, capacity, compliance and process improvement.

• Understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, records management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.
 
This is an ongoing full-time role located at either Coffs Harbour or Port Macquarie.

We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 70km from your identified Headquarters/depot.

About you


You have proven experience operating at a Road Worker Grade 3 level or industry equivalent (refer to Role Description).

You hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence.

You have a sound understanding of road maintenance and construction and associated infrastructure. A strong technical understanding of TfNSW quality specifications will be highly regarded.


You are a process focused individual who enjoys working flexibly across tasks as this role has multiple facets to it. You will be a skilled communicator who has experience in developing relationships with internal stakeholders and working in an onsite team environment as well as being able to work autonomously.


You are passionate about quality assurance, attention to detail, and understand the importance it has to the final product. You possess good literacy and numeracy skills and have a strong working knowledge of Excel and other reporting tools will be important for this position.

Any experience in WHS and/or Quality Systems will be highly regarded.

Experience and/or a qualification in accident/incident investigations is beneficial but not essential.


You must also have a willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.


You may be required to work outside of normal working hours and you may also be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home on occasion. Allowances relating to working away from home and accommodation apply.
