Security Operations Planner

In this role, you'll:
You'll be reporting to the Manager, Security Operations Planning, within our Coordinator General Division, where you will be responsible for developing and implementing security strategies to ensure the safety of customers across Greater Sydney's public transport and road networks. You’ll collaborate with NSW Police and transport stakeholders to manage security plans for transport precincts, special events, and unplanned incidents impacting customer safety and transport assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Representing Greater Sydney in delivering security services across key locations in NSW.
- Leading security operations for transport networks during incidents, special events, and public order events.
- Working with the Greater Sydney Customer Journey Plan (CJP), Commercial Contract Manager, and transport operators to improve security and incident response plans.

About you

We’re looking for a candidate with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey security information to a diverse range of stakeholders. You’re a self-starter, able to work independently, but also confident in seeking guidance or clarification when needed. Collaboration is key for you, and you’re committed to continuously learning and growing alongside a close-knit, knowledgeable, and supportive team.
You’ll need to be flexible, with the ability to be on-call and travel during emergencies. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field from an Australian university (or equivalent overseas qualification) is required, along with significant industry experience in managing critical infrastructure resilience or assets of substantial importance.
Additionally, you’ll need:
- A valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s license and the willingness to work outside of regular hours and travel occasionally.
- The ability to contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of security services, adhering to technical standards, operational policies, processes, and procedures to meet Service Level Targets.
