About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
 
The opportunity
Right now, we have a permanent full time opportunity for a Truck Driver MR Gang to join us in the Maintenance & Delivery team based in our Ballina Depot. 
 

You will be required to carry out certain duties including but not limited to:

  • Competently operate Light and Medium Rigid vehicles (with a GVM of greater than 4.5 tonnes)
  • To tow any trailers that their vehicle is rated to tow
  • To operate a HIAB or similar truck mounted crane
  • General road/bridge worker labouring duties

 

The area of operation is quite broad and may include maintenance of steel, concrete and timber bridges, slope remediation works and bridge painting.

 

You will also be required to work at night occasionally and travel away from home as part of this role.


 About you
We are looking for an experienced Truck Driver who has the capability to work under limited supervision and has experience in maintaining a safe and injury free work place for all employees while operating in a high speed, high traffic volume environment.
 
You have sound experience operating a HIAB or similar truck mounted cranes and experience undertaking physical labouring duties. You’ll also hold:

  • White Card
  • MR Driver Licence
  • Experience and understanding of local road networks across the district
  • Experience in bridge maintenance tasks and activities

 

You take pride in your ability to effectively communicate with other workers and members of public and are dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment.

 

You’re prepared to work outside regular working hours (day+night works when required), attend after hour call-outs, and prepared to travel extensively throughout the region and work at locations away from the base station including camping away from home when needed.
 
Whilst not required, experience in operating plant (excavator, bobcat, padfoot/smooth drum roller) is advantageous but not essential. Formal traffic control certification is also advantageous but not essential.
 
Wage and Benefits
The wage for this position is Truck Driver MR Gang Grade ($1,311) per week plus superannuation.
