In this role, you'll

Join the Engineering, Design and Assurance (EDA) team that oversees the engineering, design and assurance requirements across all Sydney Metro projects throughout the project lifecycle. Be a part of team is accountable for the Sydney Metro product, driving continuous improvement through innovation and industry leading thought and action.

 

Lead the provision of technical engineering advice and assistance to private sector partners and implementation groups on fit for purpose metro product outcomes across all Sydney Metro project phases and technical disciplines, specifically for Fire Life Safety. The role ensures that technical and engineering solutions are of high quality, meet customer and business requirements within scope, quality, safety assurance, time and cost constraints, as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.

 

You will be responsible for managing the engagement with Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and Emergency Services to facilitate the development and implementation of fire safety engineering solutions. A key focus will be to build and maintain productive, collaborative and cooperative relationships with a wide variety of public and private sector stakeholders and service providers to ensure best practice project management while delivering complex projects.

 

This is an opportunity to engage with a diverse team of engineering subject matter experts delivering a Sydney Metro product that is safe, reliable, efficient, sustainable and meets customer needs in accordance with contract and performance requirements.

 

You will be required to:

 

  • Lead a dynamic team in the design, implementation and maintenance of fire life safety systems across our Sydney Metro projects. 
  • Lead the provision of technical engineering advice and assistance to private sector partners and implementation groups on fit for purpose metro product outcomes across all Sydney Metro project phases and technical disciplines.
  • Ensure that technical and engineering solutions are of high quality, meet customer and business requirements within scope, quality, safety assurance, time and cost constraints, as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety measures seamlessly into engineering solutions.
  • Drive innovation in fire life safety technologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

About you

  • You will be tertiary qualified in engineering (Mechanical) and be a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.
  • At least 15 years demonstrated specialist fire and life safety knowledge and experience with a focus on large infrastructure projects, ideally within the rail and tunnelling environment.
  • Previous experience as a Fire Life Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Rail environment.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards and regulations.
  • Experience of applying knowledge across at least two or more phases of engineering lifecycle (design, construction. testing, commissioning) in relation to fire life safety.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and guide a technically diverse team.
  • The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker (RSW) under the Rail Industry Worker Scheme.
