In this role you’ll

 

Join our Commercial and Energy Management Branch in the Finance, Technology & Commercial division. The division also comprises of Group Finance, Investment & Assurance, Financial Sustainability, Portfolio Management Office & Enablement, Group Technology, and Procurement branches. Reporting to the Deputy Secretary Finance Technology and Commercial, you will provide strong collaborative leadership to a team of direct reports and the broader team of 200, where you will be an integral part of our newly established Finance, Technology & Commercial Executive Leadership Team.

 

You will provide the strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of the enterprise commercial strategy and advisory practice of Transport. The role supports strategic projects, innovation, and long-term value creation, ensuring the enterprise commercial strategy aligns with Transport and Government policies and sound commercial practices. This includes the ideation, generation and delivery of commercial growth opportunities by leveraging Transport’s broad asset base and intellectual property to maximise value for money and make it easier to do business with Government.

 

In addition, you will drive and oversee ancillary revenue management, including the Sydney Co-ordinated Adaptive Traffic System (a world leading traffic intersection solution, used in 216 cities in over 32 countries), myPlates, advertising and BridgeClimb, whilst ensuring maximised return to the business. This also includes the identification of commercial opportunities to improve and drive the uplift in ancillary services revenue. You will also develop energy strategies and deliver a range of energy programs such as Electric Vehicle charging, grid scale and community batteries, as well as other energy efficiency projects across Transport.

About You

 

You are a tertiary qualified, experienced thought leader in providing expert advice on commercial and related matters looking for an opportunity to uplift the evolving business requirements of Transport for NSW that is subject to high levels of public scrutiny:
 

  • You will have demonstrated extensive executive leadership experience in commercial management including financial, contract management, and negotiations.

 

  • You will bring expertise in providing advice on commercial matters including contract negotiations, contract risk allocation and probity to support the achievement of best practice commercial outcomes.

 

  • You are results orientated, ensuring delivery and implementation of commercial initiatives and projects on time and within budget.

 

  • You bring strong experience in generating opportunities through the commercialisation of assets and data.

 

  • You are experienced in building, developing and leading high performing teams, including leading through change and setting team culture.

 

  • You are an influencer supported by a high level of political nous and a thought leader in commercial advice within the organisation and more broadly with other organisations in the same sector.

 

  • You are passionate about delivering exceptional client service to your stakeholders, supporting and enabling colleagues and teams to achieve outstanding outcomes.

 

  • You will understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.

 

  • You have strong experience reporting to Executive Leadership or equivalent level stakeholders. 

 

  • You have the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels of audiences.

 

  • You embrace a delivery mindset, with ability to balance thought leadership with implementation of projects.
