About the Team


Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. We're modernising the state's metropolitan rail infrastructure in partnership with Transport for NSW and the private sector. We deliver maintenance, renewal (and some capital works) on the metropolitan railway assets – track, civil, signals, control systems, electrical, operational technology.


Network Maintenance Division is part of the Maintenance Directorate, who manages the annual maintenance program on behalf of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains; we deliver routine maintenance on the civil, signal, electrical and control system assets on the metropolitan passenger network and co-ordinate infrastructure incident response. Ensuring a safe, reliable metropolitan rail network, to meet the expectations of our customers every day.


The Opportunity


Are you a skilled tradesperson looking for an opportunity to get involved in the delivery of routine maintenance, construction works and defect management across the rail network that keeps Sydney moving? As an Infrastructure Worker Traction, you will ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Electrical 1500Vdc and high and low voltage AC aerial lines. You’ll carry out regular routine maintenance, inspections and corrective works.


Note: Infrastructure Workers are shift workers and are required to work a 76 hour fortnight. Shift and weekend work, 24/7 rosters are a requirement of the role and you may be required to work extended shifts at short notice. This position has an on call requirement.  


About You


We are looking for skilled tradespeople with relevant industry experience and or qualifications such as Cert III in Distribution Overhead or  ESI Rail Traction. In addition, you’ll need to hold a full drivers licence and feel at home driving a Ute,with preferably a medium rigid truck license.


This is a shift based role which will involve night and weekend work as well as some overtime shifts and may also be on-call for incident response.


Salary and benefits


AVP 3.1 – 4.1 ($1,296.45 - $1,518.15) per week plus superannuation, allowances and overtime.
