In this role, you'll:
have the opportunity to use your expertise in communication, problem-solving, empathy to help support Train Crew and Customer Experience staff deliver the best outcomes to thousands of people every day.
In this role, you'll support the management, maintenance and distribution of Intercity operating standards and the corresponding documentation including safety critical information. You will also be responsible for the creation of standards that define outcomes the directorate wants to achieve.
You will partner with training and compliance programs to embed the standards ongoing programs and work in a dynamic environment where priorities and work tasks may change at short notice.
You will liaise with subject matter experts with regards to standards requirements and respond to enquiries from across the directorate . You would be responsible to document and broadcast newly created and updated standards and ensure all standards related to intercity operations are clearly communicated, publicised, and appropriately interpreted by the other divisions in the directorate.
These newly created roles, give you the unique opportunity to support building standards, systems and processes from the ground up. As the role evolves, you’ll play a key part in shaping how we operate more efficiently and effectively.
Please note that the home location for this role is Central Station but there is opportunity for hybrid working. Additionally, some travel may be required to provide support to depot locations. For more information, please refer to the Role description
About you
You're someone who brings order to complexity while staying practical and people focused. Your approach to standards and procedures balances requirements with practicality, and you have a natural talent for building trust and finding creative solutions that work for everyone. While you're strong on the technical aspects of operating standards and its documentation, it's your interpersonal skills that truly set you apart.
Knowledge of the rail industry and understanding of regulatory context, while not essential, will be highly regarded.
What makes you excel is your ability to see beyond rigid procedures while maintaining compliance. You genuinely enjoy collaborating with others, have the patience to see solutions through, and can adapt your approach to match different situations and stakeholders. You are organised, adaptable and possess the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team. Well-developed communication skills including negotiation, consultation and documentation development across a diverse range stakeholders will set you up for success in this role.
You have a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing needs.
You’re proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office applications, in preparing documents, correspondence and reports. Any experience in knowledge management, SharePoint and document management in a public sector setup would be highly regarded
