About the Project

The Regional Rail Fleet Project is part of TfNSW’s Infrastructure & Place Division. It involves the replacement of the regional passenger fleet including 60 XPT and more than 50 XPLORER and Endeavour passenger cars.

Recently the NSW Government awarded a contract for the replacement of the ageing NSW regional rail fleet and the construction of a new train maintenance facility at Dubbo named ‘Mindyarra’. We will be replacing the current regional fleet with 29 safer, comfortable and more accessible trains, including 117 new carriages. These new trains will improve safety, comfort, accessibility and reliability for customers who travel from Sydney to many regional centres in NSW as well as Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The opportunity

As the Regional Rail Readiness Leader, you will report into the Director Integration, Fleet and Systems and provide strategic leadership, planning and delivery of NSW TL’s operational readiness requirements and implementation of the new regional fleet into service. You will be responsible for the provision of operational readiness to ensure that the new fleet delivers customer value and that NSW TL is ready to operate the next generation regional rail fleet.

Contributing to your success will be developing and enhancing cross-functional working relationships as a member of the leadership team within the Regional Rail integrated project team to lead and coordinate delivery of program objectives aligned with operational readiness objectives related to NSW TL for the delivery of the project on behalf of customers and communities of NSW.
