About the team

 

Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment into new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro.

 

The first line of this new fully automated railway opened in 2019 and by 2024 will deliver 31 Metro stations and more than 66km of Metro rail.

 

Planning is also underway for future lines which will shape the way Australia’s largest city travels, making Sydney Metro the biggest public transport project in the nation’s history.

 

 

The opportunity

 

We have two opportunities for a Senior Manager Planning to join our Project Management Office for the Sydney Metro program of works managing scope as per outlined below:

  1. Target Program
  2. Linewide and TSOM (M&E/Track/Rail Systems)

 

The roles will lead, plan and manage elements of a Contract and Target Program workstream including the integrated target program.  They will collaborate with delivery partner teams to optimise program deliverables, managing schedule risk assessment delivery and reporting requirements, managing all aspects of the Project integrated program and reporting, including executive presentations to highlight issues and change control management providing a whole-of-project oversight of target project status.  

 

The roles lead a team of planners and assistant planners in the delivery of periodic and monthly reporting to Sydney Metro and/or delivery partner executive teams, and acts as a centre point for the coordination of Implementation Group target program, thereby supporting the PMO team in its corporate level reporting requirements and in the successful on-time, on-budget delivery of Sydney Metro projects.

 

The successful applicant will provide strong leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive a culture of continuous improvement and appropriate change whilst leading the management of all relevant packages and disciplines to cover all phases of the Project from construction to operational readiness to commissioning and into revenue service.

 

There will also be requirements to provide timely, expert, strategic and authoritative advice to the Director PMO on proposed project scope changes regarding impacts on the Project and to drive value for money outcomes.  Building strong relationships with senior leaders in the PMO and Project Delivery will be key to your success in these roles.

About you

 

You will be experienced in the delivery of complex, large scale transport infrastructure and ideally have familiarity with government/client side working within project planning and controls.  Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction or Finance from a recognised tertiary institution are required.
