In this role, you'll:
Work in the Wheel & Rail Engineering team of Maintenance Engineering for Sydney Trains who ensure and improve the technical integrity and reliability of assets maintained by our Network Maintenance Division (NMD).
This role will see you responsible for leading, managing and working alongside a team of field technical specialists with expertise in rail related technology and maintenance.
You will provide network-wide field technical support and advice in areas including but not limited to rail metallurgy, non-destructive testing, welding and lubrication.
You will manage the process for investigation, testing and reporting of broken rail and large rail internal and surface defects. This will also include leading technical investigations, carrying out root cause analysis and producing reports to enable effective, timely and evidenced based technical solutions.

About you
Your experience in the rail and infrastructure industry will see you bring an in-depth understanding of welding, rail metallurgy and Ultrasonic Testing to rail related technology and maintenance.
You’re recognised as being able to conduct and / or coordinate in-situ and off-site testing, technical investigations and assessment of rail and associated track component failures.
This will see you having the opportunity to obtain or advance your experience in leading, managing and supporting a team of rail technical specialists.
This is an Award RC 6 Permanent Full-time role based at the Chullora Depot that will also cover the whole entire network - Wollongong to Newcastle and out the Blue Mountains – with flexibility through our cutting-edge hybrid working model!. At present, this would typically be up to 2 days per week.
