About the team

The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation $28 billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come.

About the projects


The NSW Government and Transport for NSW are building a new motorways and bridges, as well as new improvements to our current roads and infrastructure. The new motorways and structures will reduce congestion, improve road safety and provide more reliable journeys to support growth across Metropolitan NSW.

 

The opportunity

We will have numerous Surveillance Officer (Level 2 and Level 3) opportunities available in 2022. These roles will play an integral part in the construction of our exciting state infrustructure projects. These roles will be responsible for providing on-site surveillance activities on nominated structure and road-work construction. These roles may be permanent or fixed-term, depending on project requirements.

 

Key accountabilities:
 

  • Provide specialist and/or non-routine surveillance capabilities (depending on position level) to verify that work has been performed in accordance with Agency standards, specifications and processes.
  • Monitor, support and influence development partner progress against agreed milestones and deliverables to support the Agency’s program of work.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced Surveillance Officers, engineering and project staff in order to reinforce best-practice surveillance and project practices.
  • Act as a source of technical advice for trades, engineering and project staff within their area of specialization in order to build capability and improve project outcomes.
  • Exercise Agency Delegations on site with significant autonomy and provide in Agency support to delivery partners, as required.
  • Anticipate technical issues and escalate these issues to project and contract engineers or managers as required; in order to support best practice project/contract management and works delivery.

 

About you
 

  • Trade qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience with technologies, practices and processes of civil construction and maintenance works.
  • Advanced knowledge experience in applying standards, policies and codes of practice to the conduct of civil construction and maintenance works.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, analyse and interpret project/construction and contract documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in record keeping and document management in a construction or maintenance environment.


Salary and Benefits

The salary banding for these roles will be $104,181 – $125,712 (depending on level of experience) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
