The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.  


The Opportunity

Right now, we have a Fixed Term full time opportunity (until Sep 2023) for a Senior Systems Engineer to join us in the Network & Assets Branch. In this role you will provide specialist engineering services to support the design, delivery, operations, maintenance and refurbishment of Tunnel and Motorway management systems managed by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) including, Operation Management and Control Systems (OMCS), Plant Management Control Systems (PMCS), Traffic Management Control Systems (TMCS), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Fire and Life Safety Control Systems, and associated software and network hardware.


You will ensure that the existing tunnel systems  (St Helena, Cudgen  and Tugun Bypass Tunnels) and future planned tunnel systems , provide a safe, reliable and effective contribution to the Road Network.

About you

To be successful in securing the role you will have

•           Demonstrated extensive knowledge of ICT systems and interfaces standards, protocols and experience in the preparation of technical specifications, and reporting to a high standard in the field of complex ICT and electrical control systems as well as electrical and electronic systems design (hardware/ software), procurement, commissioning, testing and systems integration preferably in a transport infrastructure environment.


•           Demonstrated experience in Project and Contract Management of software and hardware maintenance and development projects applicable to ICT and control networks with the proven practical ability to test and evaluate complex ICT equipment and systems with experience in developing and implementing testing procedures, inspection and test plans, test beds and equipment to successfully evaluate critical areas.


•           Knowledge and understanding of modern traffic management devices and systems, traffic management control models and practices, and a broad knowledge and appreciation of modern technology applicable to the road transport industry


You will possess a four-year engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications


Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Engineer Level 4/ USS11 ($147,164- $ 157,022) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
