About the team


The Infrastructure and Place (IP) division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation multi-billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. We are dedicated and passionate team that is proud of the work we do and the supportive and flexible team culture we have built.  Our work can entail project management and assurance, commercial management, engineering and technical advisory and precinct renewal and place making.


You will work with a combination of experienced and road designers in-training while being supported by senior leaders who will encourage growth.



The opportunity


Produce road designs, resolving difficult design problems while providing technical leadership to internal design teams and project teams, coordinating inputs from other technical disciplines and stakeholders and undertaking the review of internally and externally prepared road designs, in order to create strategic, concept and detail road designs.


  • Lead the delivery of internally and externally prepared road designs on major road infrastructure projects, in compliance with policies, standards, technical directions, guidelines, procedures and agreed requirements and contribute to the management of technical risk in road design.
  • Supervise a team of technical staff and cross functional team members through leadership and  involving staff in project planning and goal settings.
  • Support the Manager with the development of a motivated, skilled, innovative and continuously improving workforce, by aligning personal development opportunities to Transport for NSW business objectives and providing constructive feedback on performance.

About you


You are a tertiary qualified in engineering or related discipline and have demonstrated experience as a Lead Road Designer and enjoy working in a team environment.



Salary and Benefits


This is a permanent fixed term contract till 11 November 2026. Salary for this position is Grade 8 ($104,181) – Grade 9 ($125,712) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading. For more information on Employee Benefits at TfNSW please click here.
