The Division


The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.


The opportunity


Right now we have a permanent full time position for a Project Officer to join our Southern Asset team South region within the Network and Assets Branch. Working closely with the Corridor Maintenance Planner to look after the assets that connect our communities. The Project Officer contributes to the development and monitoring of the region’s maintenance program by providing data management and technical support to the regional Maintenance Planners and providing support in planning out the maintenance required for the off-road assets such as stormwater pipes, slopes against road, rest areas, safety barriers and sign structures.


With the main office located in Wollongong, this role requires occasional travel throughout southern regional NSW.


What you’ll be involved in


  • Manage the collection (including conducting field inspections), updating and reporting of asset data to provide up to date information in a timely manner to users across the organisation.
  • Prepare assessment reports and analyse asset performance data to identify and prioritise the inclusion of maintenance projects in the forward work program.
  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance Planners including scoping projects and developing briefs to enable the development of works programs, maintenance strategies and the forward plan.
  • Develop contract documentation and coordinate the procurement process to ensure internal service providers and professional service contractors are engaged and managed effectively and meet TfNSW quality, WHS and environment requirements.
  • Provide support to the Infrastructure Services and Regional Maintenance teams in order to develop routine maintenance annual plans for pavement and corridor programs by contributing to joint planning assessment processes, undertaking analysis of maintenance activity and prices to ensure efficient maintenance delivery.
  • Prepare project expenditure and output forecasts for selected Infrastructure Services projects and report performance against targets.


About you


The successful candidate will have a forensic eye for detail and accuracy, possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills and be experienced in data matching and data manipulation.  An understanding of road assets from an engineering viewpoint is an advantage as you will assisting the Corridor Maintenance Planner in determining and assessing what actions need to be given to assets.  You will be experienced in working with databases and a familiarity with Microsoft Access will be an advantage. You will have excellent communication skills and experience dealing with a broad range of stakeholders.


Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience is required.

Salary and Benefits


Roads and Maritime Grade 7 ($94,824 - $100,075) plus superannuation and leave loading.
