As we move towards a statewide model, join the newly established Regional Road Network Maintenance (RRNM) Branch of the Road Maintenance & Resilience Division, that maintains and improves the safety, reliability and resilience of NSW’s road network to better connect our communities and move freight efficiently across our State. RRNM provides fleet and plant services across Transport and the State of NSW and is responsible for:
- Leasing, external hire and purchasing of fleet and plant
- Design and manufacture new plant and equipment
- Fleet and plant maintenance and servicing
- Management of fleet workshops across the State
Reporting to the Executive Director, Regional Road Network Maintenance, you will be responsible for managing the Transport’s fleet hire business including light vehicles, vehicular fleet, trucks, plant and fleet workshops, through the development and management of appropriate business strategies and methodologies to provide cost effective fleet support to Transport wide operations.
Supported by a diverse team of approximately 150 professionals based across the State, the role provides mechanical support for ferries, moveable mediums lift span bridges and other mechanical infrastructure and is responsible for fleet operations and support facility strategy, policies, and management of the corporate fleet as a commercially competitive business.
In consideration of our evolving EV workforce team, whilst managing procurement and commercial activities, you will be required be innovative, purposely driven so as to support more sustainable maintenance operations.
This is a full-time ongoing (Perm) Transport Senior Service Manger (TSSM) level role, offering an attractive remuneration package. The role is opened to individuals based regionally but preferably in the vicinity of some of our major depots across the State. Ability to travel throughout the State is a requirement.

About you
- You are an experienced professional in fleet and plant services management.
- Highly developed knowledge of asset management systems and a proven capacity to oversee the development and the implementation of asset standards, procurement, utilisation and maintenance across a commercially focused and geographically dispersed business.
- Strong understanding of change management principals and ability to lead change while operating within commercial framework.
- Demonstrated experience working at a senior or executive level in a complex organization delivering specialist and authoritative advice to executive leadership.
- Detailed understanding of business management systems requirements and ability to project manage implementation of defined systems within a commercially based engineering or industrial based organisation/s.
- You have strong stakeholder management skills with experience in leading a function within a high reliability / high risk working environment, a large and complex industrial and/or public sector organisation.
- Adaptable in nature, you lead by example with the ability to drive change and to motivate team members towards achieving business objectives.
- As a good problem solver, with progressive and forward-thinking attitude, you have the ability to work in a matrix-style reporting environment where it is essential to have a good understanding of customer orientation and the operational demands that come with service delivery.
- You have appropriate qualifications in Engineering, post graduate business management or related disciplines.
- You possess a valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s license and be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion / extensively throughout the state.
