An exciting new opportunity has emerged with the role of Director Security & Emergency Operations within Sydney Trains Rail Operations branch. This is a high-profile strategic leadership role that will lead the development and implementation of Sydney Trains security strategy, security programs and operational security activities to improve network performance and support the establishment of a safe and secure journey and security of the network. In addition, the role is accountable for business resilience and emergency preparedness and leading the Rail Fire and Emergency capability

 

In this role, you'll:

 

Report to the Head of Rail Operations, and as the leader of the security and emergency operations teams, some of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Lead the security operations for Sydney Trains including monitoring, investigations and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provide strategic security advice and recommendations to key stakeholders and senior executives.
  • Deliver assessments on known threats and mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of emergency and crisis preparedness processes and procedures for the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains network.
  • Lead and direct the Rail Fire and Emergency capability to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.

About You

 

  • You are an experienced security and intelligence professional with strong people skills looking for an opportunity to contribute to world class railway within an organisation that is subject to high levels of public scrutiny.
  • You have proven capability to ensure organisational preparedness for an effective response to emerging security threats.
  • You have the ability to manage both the diversity and complexity of security matters and associated risk in a sensitive political environment in providing the most effective strategy and operational plans to enable optimum train services across the network.
  • Maintaining a National Security Clearance (NV1) is a prerequisite.
  • You bring demonstrated knowledge and experience in crisis and emergency management.
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills with experience in leading a function within a high reliability / high risk working environment, a large and complex industrial and/or public sector organisation.
  • Adaptable in nature, you lead by example with the ability to drive change and to motivate team members towards achieving business objectives.
