In this role, you'll:
Join the team as a Purchasing Officer, ensuring delivery of engineering environment procurement for goods, works and services to support the delivery of Major works projects Annual Works Programme by providing purchasing support.
You will assist with building business intelligence reports in applications such as SAP, DOMO and Power BI, which includes running and facilitating weekly VMC reporting and working groups, generating insights, on trends, risks and priorities for the team.
You will collaborate with the senior level customers across Major works in identifying problems and then work on finding effective and efficient solutions.
You will support improvement areas with a focus on continuous improvement, including testing, validating, and adapting internal work instructions to improve and embed better work practices across the Major Works functional teams, including developing content for process awareness.
You would be required to promptly action, process, coordinate, prioritise and manage purchasing requests, raising of requisitions; ordering materials (non-stock), services and equipment; collaboratively follow through with suppliers to assure standards are met and support the operational requirement effectively and efficiently.
About you
You are a tenacious, resilient, highly organised, self-motivated and an autonomous operator looking to expand your skills and experience in a purchasing/procurement role.
You are someone who thinks out of the box and are ready to push boundaries with an eye on the big picture and can operate on a strategic level. You must be able to juggle multiple tasks, providing accurate and prompt support whilst seeking process improvement opportunities.
You will possess a background in purchasing ideally within the public sector, the rail industry or a similar engineering environment, and you will have previous experience using SAP.
