In this role, you'll:
Work as part of the Sydney Trains’ Rolling Stock Mechanical Design (RSMD) business unit to support the diesel-powered regional and intercity passenger fleets and Major Works infrastructure maintenance machines. You will be responsible for providing engineering support and expertise for design services, advice, solutions consistent with current standards, manufacturing, operational objectives, and maintenance requirements.
You will also be undertaking designs using CAD, FEA, or other packages as required and produce drawings as required..

About you
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in a design or maintenance environment can demonstrate the ability to delivering innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of the systems associated with the rail industry, rail operations and maintenance support infrastructure.
- Proven applied knowledge and understanding of engineering design and regulatory compliance standards, including the capability to contribute to development and implementation of engineering design quality and compliance strategies, plans, frameworks, systems, process, and procedure.
- Understanding of welding and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of rolling stock and rolling stock systems.
- Experience in using Solidworks, Solidworks FEA, FEMAP NASTRAN (or similar) will be highly regarded.
