In this role, you'll:


· be working under limited supervision operating a variety of major/minor plant items such as skid steer/bobcat, rollers, loaders, and other heavy plant equipment at any one time. When plant is not required, you’ll support a range of labouring tasks with the team when needed.

· Conduct safety checks on all plant used, complete basic maintenance such as refuelling and check the fluid maintenance records and reports to ensure the safe use of plant items.

· Understand, maintain, and apply knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, record management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.

You may also be required to work outside normal working hours, attend after hour call-outs and be able to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station when required. The successful candidate may also be required to respond to critical incidents and extreme weather events.

About you


We’re seeking an experienced Plant Operator with good communication skills who puts safety first.
You will have a confident knowledge of road maintenance equipment and be highly capable of operating more than 2 different types of complex plant including tractor mower, backhoe, excavator, skid steer, rollers, loaders grader and have proven experience rectifying simple hazards without direction and reporting them accordingly.

You must hold the following qualifications:

· White Card
· Current driver’s licence
· Traffic Control tickets – (Traffic Controller & Implement) or ability to gain within 3 months of employment.
· Traffic Control tickets – Prepare Work Zone, or ability to gain within 3 months of employment.

The ability to load plant on the back of a truck/trailer and a Medium Rigid truck licence would be highly desirable.
This role is based in Lithgow however it covers a regional reach of up to an hour from the depot including out to Bathurst, Mount Victoria, Jenolan Caves Road and the Castlereagh Highway up to Capertee.
