In this role, you'll:


Right now, we have an opportunity available for a Works Assistant Grade 3 - Project Quality Representative (PQR) to join our Far West Maintenance and Delivery Team.

Working a 9-day fortnight and supporting our Maintenance/Construction crews, you will help with the maintenance and delivery of our road assets including pavement patching, rehabilitation, drainage repair & installation works and vegetation control amongst others.

The role ensures the project specifications and work plan requirements are followed and implemented. The role will complete and maintain records that demonstrate that processes are carried out and verified according to project documentation. The role may also be required to carry out duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 as required.

The Works Assistant Grade 3 - PQR will also be responsible for:
 
• Checking work activities are completed to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans and contract requirements, and completing required records. This will involve safety, environmental and quality checks, audits, asset inspections, competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.

• Performing a wide range of routine and complex labouring/manual tasks, including using a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools to assist with the completion of work activities. Work is completed under limited supervision and may be done in a team environment or independently.

• Solving routine problems that arise, referring to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborating with supervisors and managers to resolve complex problems to minimise risks and achieve work goals.

• Guiding team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability and ensure team tasks are completed effectively.

• Understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, records management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.

This is an ongoing full-time role located at Broken Hill.

We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 km of the Broken Hill works depot.

About you


You're confident, proactive and experienced in road works (or a similar industry) and you have the ability to understand and apply quality assurance and specifications to units of work.

You have sound experience operating in a Road Worker Grade 3 role or industry equivalent (refer to role description), possess a current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence, White Card and Traffic Control certificates.

Ideally, you will have experience as a Plant Operator and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or, be willing to obtain one as part of your employment.

You have a sound understanding of road maintenance and construction and associated infrastructure. A strong technical understanding of TfNSW quality specifications will be highly regarded.

You are a process focused individual who enjoys working flexibly across tasks as this role has multiple facets to it. You will be a skilled communicator who has experience in developing relationships with internal stakeholders and working in an onsite team environment as well as being able to work autonomously.

You are passionate about quality assurance, attention to detail, and understand the importance it has to the final product. You possess good literacy and numeracy skills and have intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite.

Any experience in WHS and/or Quality Systems will be highly regarded.

You must also have a willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.

This role involves extensive travel and camping away so the availability to work outside normal working hours is a condition of the role. Allowances relating to working away from home and accommodation apply.
