In this role, you'll:
Work with our Safety Environment Quality and Risk Division at our Auburn Heavy Maintenance Centre, ensuring the application of WHS regulatory requirements, frameworks, and processes to support the Sydney Trains Safety Management System (SMS) and our Fleet Maintenance division's safety objectives.

 
You'll collaborate with frontline leaders and staff regarding safety requirements, risk management, and WHS management requirements to maintain and promote a safe and compliant operation. This includes leading and conducting site inspections, risk assessments and reviewing existing safety documentation.

 
Provide expert advice to managers to support WHS decision making, continuous improvement and alignment with regulatory obligations. You'll use safety systems to monitor and report on incidents, hazards and performance trends, to support our Fleet Maintenance team in reducing risk and enhancing safety outcomes.

About you
You have demonstrated experience in safety management, safety auditing and/or assurance in a complex, high risk operating environment, ideally within a heavy plant or maintenance setting.

You hold relevant Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) qualifications and are proactive, solutions-focused, and able to build trust with people across all levels of the organisation. You're confident working onsite with operational crews, supporting managers and raising issues where needed.

You bring expert knowledge of WHS consultation processes and the ability to lead or support investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

This is an 18-month temporary full-time role located on-site at Auburn. You'll play a key role in supporting the safe operation of a major maintenance facility, helping to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture.
