In this role, you'll:
Work within our Systems and Insights Team within the Suburban Services Branch of Sydney Trains, supporting both business-as-usual and enhancement work for our Train Crewing Workforce Planning solution, which underpins our workforce planning initiatives.
You’ll apply a range of analytical and statistical approaches and methodologies to identify complex relationships in data. This will enable you to support and drive the development of strategic and high-value data assets and analytics models.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll translate complex requirements into analytical solutions – whether through dashboards, reports or tailored dataflows – ensuring insights are accessible, relevant and actionable.
You’ll bring strong SQL skills, experience with scripting languages such as Python, and the ability to design effective data visualisations using industry-standard tools like Tableau and Power BI.

About you
You’ll bring tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with a blend of strong technical capability and business understanding and experience.
You’re known for being a self-starter, with demonstrated experience in applying advanced statistical forecasting techniques and building sophisticated data visualisations – ideally for workforce planning systems.
You’re comfortable working with complex, multi-dimensional datasets and developing predictive models using tools such as Python.
This is a Temporary Full-Time role for a fixed term of 12 months (Award RC6), based at Burwood. The position offers flexibility through our hybrid working model, with current arrangements typically allowing 2 to 3 days per week working from home.
