Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.
In this role, you'll:
- Manage the production scope of work for the Tangara Fleet Extension Project (TFLE) project to ensure the production team performs the works and services in a safe, quality and on time manner.
- Oversee the receipt of trains into the production cycle, the upgrade of multiple systems to specification, and the delivery of the upgraded train to the Test and Commissioning team to ensure the Tangara Fleet Extension project meets delivery milestones.
- Determine and implement the project schedule and activities throughout the project life cycle (including concept design, planning, planning approval, detailed design, tender, construction, commissioning and handover) to ensure project meets KPI’s.
- Develop detailed project budget and forecast cash flows/milestones from approved budget.

About you
To be successful in the role you will have the following:
- Demonstrated high level of understanding of maintenance processes and procedures as well as safety, quality and configuration management.
- Demonstrated experience in project management in a commercially focussed and complex environment
- Proven experience in the preparation of performance specifications and experience in tender evaluation and contract management.
- Experience managing and leading a large workforce in a heavy maintenance environment.
- Tertiary qualified or have demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience
