Manager Resurfacing

In this role, you'll:
Lead and manage a frontline team of 40 staff delivering critical track resurfacing works using tampers and ballast regulators across the Sydney Trains network, covering a geographic area from Bomaderry to Newcastle and out to Lithgow. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations and resources in a 24/7 shift environment, with a strong focus on performance management, training and upskilling, safety, and responding to changing operational demands.
Work closely with Team Leaders and internal staff to lead capacity planning and workforce management while ensuring delivery targets are met. You’ll also collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering, plant maintenance, procurement, and project teams, as well as external partners such as major contractors and labour hire providers.
Drive a strong safety culture by attending site to coach teams, address risks, and oversee compliance. You'll manage team capability through training and ensuring alignment with competency frameworks. Proficiency in planning and reporting tools such as Excel, Microster, or P6 will support your success in this role.
This is a permanent full-time, on-site role based at Clyde. You will be required to travel and attend various sites to support compliance and delivery, which may include weekend work as operational needs arise.

About you
Proactive leader with demonstrated experience managing operational teams in construction, infrastructure, or heavy plant environments.
Strong knowledge of resurfacing machinery (tampers, ballast regulators) and track maintenance methods as well as WHS legislation and rail safety obligations and you thrive in driving a safe work culture.
Proven experience managing performance, training, development and compliance requirements. You're confident in managing and upskilling diverse teams and have exceptional communication skills with the ability to have challenging conversations to achieve outcomes.
Excellent prioritisation and communication skills, able to adjust plans quickly when required and maintain focus on delivery and safety.
Hold a current NSW Class C driver licence and are comfortable driving 4WD or UTE-type vehicles as. Although not essential, experience using planning and reporting tools such as Excel, Microster, and P6 would be ideal.
