In this role, you'll:

Work on game-changing projects and this role will allow you to develop your skills and gain exposure to types of work that you just won’t find anywhere else.

 

You'll supervise a team of trades and non-trades staff to maintain heavy vehicle plant and equipment safely.

 

You may also be required to work outside normal working hours. You must be able attend after hour callouts as well as be prepared to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station.

 

The role also safely carries out the duties of Mechanical Tradesperson Grade 1-3

 

You will be responsible for ensuring that the team processes occur, and quality objectives are achieved. You will be leading a small crew who undertake maintenance and repairs on a range of plant items, vehicles and mechanical equipment where no day is the same!

 

You will be involved in:

  • Facilitating team meetings, processes and encouraging team engagement and suggestions for improvement.
  • Short term planning.
  • Simple problem evaluation and continuous improvement processes.
  • Conflict resolution and team development.
  • Ensuring equity within the team.
  • Ordering of materials/product and record keeping.
  • Work Health Safety inspections.
  • Supervising minor contracts associated with the team’s activities.

 

This is an ongoing full-time role located at the Dubbo Workshop.

About you

You are a qualified mechanical tradesperson who is a people leader and safety professional with the ability to overcome and remove obstacles in the course of work.

 

You will have extended experience and understanding in mechanical trades involving installation, maintenance, repairs, commissioning, and modification of complex machinery driven by hydraulic/pneumatic principles.

 

You’re an experienced negotiator and possess a finely tuned ability to communicate, influence and find solutions whilst keeping up the team spirit.

 

Any experience in previous leadership roles or safety committee involvement will be highly advantageous.

 

It is essential that you have Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent and experience working with Heavy Vehicles.

 

You hold a current Motor Vehicle Repair Industry licence, Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence.

 

A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence is also a requirement of the role.

 

An AIS Examiners Ticket is highly desirable.

 

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a reasonable distance from the Dubbo depot.

 

The benefits includes 4 weeks annual leave and a 9-day fortnight.
