Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.
In this role, you'll:
- Be responsible for managing a team providing engineering support for design services, advice, solutions consistent with current standards to meet design, assurance, production and Testing & Commissioning objectives for Tangara Fleet Life Extension Program (TFLE).
- Lead and manage Senior Engineers and Design Engineers in the provision of high-level technical expertise and systems design services. Assure design changes required on the Tangara Fleet during the execution of the TFLE scope.
- Oversee and manage the review process of technical documents to ensure they meet quality and technical standards required. In addition, complete reviews required for acceptance of mechanical systems aspects of projects that involve outsourcing of design works, to ensure deadlines are met for critical projects and foster a safety culture within the design process.

About you
You are an experienced engineer (electrical, mechanical or mechatronics background is desirable) and leader who can effectively manage a team working to deliver projects.
You have a strong understanding of the design delivery and management of rolling stock manufacturing or upgrade projects, with experience in developing and achieving innovative solutions and outcomes.
You are experienced in reviewing technical engineering documents and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
