Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.

In this role, you'll:

• Technically lead TFLE to demonstrate technical compliance across the Standard Project Lifecycle with all relevant legislation, standards, codes and guidelines to support the delivery of safe and reliable Fleet assets that meet customer expectations.

• Undertake and coordinate Fleet asset design reviews, testing and commissioning activities to technical requirements throughout all phases of the project, in conjunction with stakeholders in accordance with system engineering principles.

• Support the development and implementation of applicable project quality, safety and environmental requirement reviews, and contribute in the identification, review, recording, management, allocation control and mitigation of technical risks within the project.

About you

To be successful in the role you will have the following:

• Experience in detailed design and all phases of the production, life cycle  for major rail projects

• Experience with the provision of engineering and technical services and management of technical risk in fleet or similar applications rail system projects

• Demonstrated management capabilities, including the ability to lead, influence, promote and motivate highly skilled technical teams to deliver desired outcomes

• Degree Qualified Engineer in either Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics
