Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.
 

In this role, you'll:

• Oversee the delivery of fleet assets acquired by TfNSW through the Tangara Fleet Life Extension (TFLE) program. This includes ensuring that assets are tested, commissioned, and meet the project’s technical, quality, and safety requirements, as well as those set by the Independent Regulator. The goal is to complete the process on time and within budget.  

• Facilitate development and approval of project specific technical, quality, safety and environmental requirements, thereby ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental and safety and quality standards

• Conduct quality audits and inspections and report on issues, including time and production deadlines, in a timely manner

About you

You hold relevant trade or higher qualifications in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical, mechatronic etc.) with experience in rolling stock manufacturing or other heavy vehicle or manufacturing environments.

You are experienced in overseeing static and dynamic testing, including functional testing of electrical, mechanical, IT and communications systems within rolling stock assets.

You have a strong understanding of rail regulations, being able to ensure that transport safety guidelines, regulatory and internal quality standards are being met.
