Sydney Trains’ Tangara fleet makes up a quarter of our suburban rail fleet. To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. The project will also help build our future workforce capabilities, strengthen local economies and support the long-term growth of NSW’s transportation industry.

In this role, you'll:

• Lead and coach a team to inspect, service, modify, upgrade, and repair passenger trains, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within budget, and to safety and quality standards.
• Inspect, service, and repair internal and external surfaces, fittings, and mechanical/pneumatic components of passenger trains, contributing to fleet reliability and availability.
• Prioritize and allocate resources to meet deadlines, ensuring fleet reliability and availability as part of the Tangara Fleet Life Extension Project upgrade.
• Manage team performance and development, focusing on career growth and competency enhancement

About you

You will need to have extensive experience of train maintenance and have electrical and/or mechanical qualifications. You will have demonstrable inclusive leadership qualities and capabilities with an ability to deescalate conflict, drive a positive safety culture and lead by example.

You will need to have proven experience in being organised, planning, and assigning work across your team as well as experience in delivering work within agreed timeframes and budget.
