Carpenter Team Leader - Hay

In this role, you'll:

• Be responsible for on-site management coordination of a work crew and/or contractors; and provide coaching and leadership to team members, accepting responsibility for work carried out individually or in a team environment by others.
• Deal with routine problems that arise during work through the application of acquired knowledge and reference to standard guidelines and manuals.
• Actively participate in team meetings and processes and pro-actively offer suggestions for improvement.
• Perform Carpentry Trade Activities including the construction and maintenance of bridge structures across the region including maintenance of steel, concrete and timber bridges, slope remediation works and bridge painting.
• Be competent with steel element replacements, falsework and formwork, bearing and joint replacements and timber bridge maintenance and construction.
• Lead a team on Bridge Construction / Rehabilitation projects across the region which will require regular work away from home.

This will be a two year limited duration position.

About you:

We’re seeking an experienced Team Lead or qualifed carpenter with leadership potential who enjoys motivating high performing teams. You will need to be outcomes driven to meet project deadlines and quick to think on your feet. 

You may be a Trade qualified Carpenter ready to develop into the next stage of you career or an experienced leader within either bridge maintenance and / or a civil construction environment.

You are also a practical thinker, quick learner and great communicator who enjoys being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment within a team setting.

You must hold the following licenses and tickets and one of the listed qualifications:

• White Card
• Current driver’s licence
• Be able to work at heights

Qualifications (ideal but not essentail)

• Carpenter and Joiner
• Construction Carpenter
• Bridge and Wharf Carpenter
• Civil Engineering Construction Carpenter
• or equivalent

We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously. Therefore, to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a 100 km distance from the Hay depot or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance will be subject to meeting approval criteria.
